macromedia players flash: Hello,

I encountered a problem playing sound on Flash-based movies on sites such as
Youtube, Google Video et cetera. However, unlike at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=18
4&threadid=1175007&enterthread=y, where most people use Windows, I use Mac OS
10.4.8 with an iMac G5. If anyone else has encountered this problem (no sound
on Flash players) and fixed it, I'd appreciate any help.

I have the exact same problem. My G5 iMac is running v10.4.8 and I cannot get
any sound. I have tried it on my iBook G3 and a iBook G4, both worked fine. I
tried Adobe's test flash first before coming to the forum and no sound there so
it's not the website. I would be interested for a solution as well....

Just go to: Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup
Using the Audio Devices TAB at the top, make sure that the "[b]Properties
For:[/b]" is set for [b]Built-In Audio[/b]
and the Audio Input and Audio output are set at 48000khz

Yep, it works. Just follow the link. I set mine at 44100 Hz, according to
instructions on another site. It works fine now. The site said it doesn't know
why the change happened.

I'm using 10.4.8 and in the drop-down for Properties For there is no "Built-in
Audio" selection available. Only Built-in Microphone, Built-in Line Input, and
Built-in Output. So I'm wondering what you are referring to.

The sound in flash player and flash mx (and 3rd party flash movie players)
works sometimes and sometimes not on my system. It's kind of scary....
