:frown; I have wasted incredible amounts of time on this. I am a Flash web
designer, so when I installed QuickTime 7 and then discovered that I could no
longer see any Flash content with Firefox, I was extremely upset. I have
researched this extensively, and tried all the remedies I could find on forums.
What happens is that whenever there is Flash content, I either get a stupid Q,
or very rough playback, since QuickTime takes over and plays the Flash movies.
The problem is with the new version of QT, and someone should fix this!!!
I found info at
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=320838 I
followed their suggestions, but still no luck.
Now that I read all the other messages from very frustrated people having this
same problem, I can only conclude that Firefox needs to fix the problem....
(from above website) " QuickTime 7.0 has registered itself as the Flash
content handler"
This is a more annoying problem that should never happen. However, if it does,
you'll need to do the following:
Close Firefox ; Open the QuickTime Control Pane l; Select the "Browser" tab,
and open "MIME Settings"
Make sure Flash File is not selected (it is under Miscellaneous).
If the problem is not fixed after doing this, you'll need to remove
pluginreg.dat from your profile folder. If it still isn't fixed after doing
that, remove npqt*.dll from your Firefox plugins folder.
