I currently have Flash Player version 7.0.19.0 installed on my system, which
does work fine.
The problem I have is that I cannot upgrade it to the latest version (version
8).
I have tried using the ?uninstaller?, from Macromedia?s web site, but when I
install version 8 the installation process takes place but I do not receive the
animation video at the end saying that Flash Player has been successfully
installed.
The only way I can get it up and running again is to perform a system restore,
which obviously uses the old/original version.
Having looked at how to manually uninstall the ActiveX control (which made no
difference), and searched my system for the following two files (flash.ocx and
swflash.ocx) the results being as follows:
Flash.ocx C:\I386
SWFLASH.OCX C:\I386
Flash.ocx C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$
Swflash.ocx C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$
Shockwave Flash Object C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
flash.ocx C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
Flash.ocx C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash
flash.ocx C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\S-1-5- 18\0915379b547e57

I have a feeling that there is more than one version installed, in different
places, on my machine.
Would appreciate any help as to successfully update my existing version of
Flash Player to the latest version
Thanks
Lawrence
