macromedia players flash : It Won't install - help!

Hi.

I live on my own, so when I visit my mom wuring holidays and weekends, I use
my younger sibling's computers. Only there's a problem - for some reason, Flash
8 has stopped working on my sisters PC. I have used before on her oC, but then
it just stopped working. Nothing loaded any more. So I tried this and that, and
I just can't get it to work!
I un-installed it on my user so I could install it on hers, the main user (she
uses XP), so it would automatically also be installed on my user. But it
wouldn't. So I even went in and manually removed any flash and/or macromedia
files affiliated with Flash 8 so it could start all a-new. But it still
wouldn't!
Every time I went to the install page, it just didn't start. Nor did the 'open
file' or 'save'-options appear, nothing happened. I wrote to the support team
who, though giving me a link to where I could download the installation file to
the PC before installing, told me to go here and ask for help as they didn't
work with the players.
It downloaded alright and I was so happy! But then it errored during
installation! This popped up:

Error 1904.Module
c:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash8.ocx failed to register. HRESULT
-2147220473. Contact your support personel.

What do I do now?? I'm starting to feel like it'll never work..

Thanks for your help in advance,
~Maria

Greetings:

Generally speaking, failures to register are due to permissions problems --
that being, your user does not have full administrative privileges, and thus
cannot install programs, such as the Flash player, that involve modifying the
registry. I would would suggest logging on as an administrator and trying
again.

Hi,

You should run the uninstaller provided in this technote:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_14157. Then try to install Flash Player
again from www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer.

Also, you do need Admin rights to install.
