macromedia players flash : Flash Player 8 with OSX Tiger Problems...

I recently purchased an iMac (with Intel) and the Adobe CS2 Suite with Studio
8. I just today got around to installing the Flash programs and now Safari
freaks out every time I go to a page that has any Flash content saying that I
don't have the correct plug-in and directs me here to Macromedia to obtain the
right download...which I downloaded what it told me...but the install isn't
working as predicted on the website. It installs fine, but the browser window
doesn't open with the flash animation as it's supposed to. And I'm still
getting the same message directing me to the same page even after I downloaded
and installed the Flash Player 8.

If anyone has encountered this problem and found a fix for it...It'd be great
if you could share it with me. :)

Hi, I have exactly the same problem but not a fix yet.
the error message I get is:

"The page ?Macromedia - Flash Player? has content of MIME type ?application/
x-shockwave-flash?, but you don?t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type.
A plug-in should be available on this page:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer
Do you want to open the page?"

so the same download I've just installed. (Shockwave is installed too)

Anyone can help?

regards
Andrea

I test it under rosetta and it works.Close safari, ask the info from safari and select the box rosetta, open safari again and try again.

1. go to Finder -> Applications
2. single click on Safari
3. press applekey + I (info)
4. under the color label you can find the "open with Rosetta" checkbox
5. flag it
6. Open Safari and enjoy

:( Well, at leat it works by that 'tweak', but - alas - on my Intel iMac
Safari slows down to a relative crawl as opposed to running natively in
Intel-mode. Those guys has better fix this annoying state of things
(Macromedia, that is)

Technote:
Troubleshooting Macromedia Flash Player for Intel-based Macs

Performance will be an issue while we're running on Rosetta. Flash
Player 8.5 will be native and honestly, will -smoke-. I've seen test
files (written in ActionScript 3 specifically for Flash Player 8.5) that
ran 10x faster than they did in the existing player..
