macromedia players flash : Help! failed Flash 8 download somehow disabled my Flash player 7

This lady needs help please! Re: free browser flash player

My stuff: Windows ME, IE6 SP1 (current) with security Active-X controls not
disabled. Flash player was 7.0.19.0 was working fine before a recent failed
Flash 8 download attempt disabled it somehow. Now I have NO flash player that
works even though there are flash folders/files still on my PC and it is
really, really annoying.

And even though I entered all the fields right, for some reason macromedia
would not accept my flash player support request form so I am here hoping
someone has answers for me.

Here's my story: I went to a web site that used Flash 8. I had a perfectly
good working version of Flash player 7 (NO Yahoo Toolbar ever loaded) that I
was happy with but when I was directed to macromedia.com/downloads to get the
latest Flash 8. I went because I have never had a problem updating to the
lastest version of Flash player in the past.

I made sure my IE browser settings were not disabled for Active-x controls,
closed all windows and disabled my Norton AV. I have no anti-spam programs
running background on my PC.

At macromedia.com/downloads, before doing download, I unchecked Yahoo Toolbar
install option because I absolutely do not want or need this parasite on my PC
and then I clicked the install button. I got the message that said that when I
saw the movie in the box that the download was successful. Well nothing ever
appeared to confirm that Flash player 8 was installed nor did I get any error
messages.

When it didn't work I figured that the Flash 8 install would not run unless
the accept Yahoo Toolbar download box was checked, which I was not going to do.
So I just thought no big deal, I will just stay with my Flash player 7 and not
care about viewing stuff on sites using Flash player 8.

But then the fun began. The next time I went to various web sites that I
visit everyday and have never had a problem with, they suddenly began to say
that I needed at least Flash player version 6 for viewing. That did not make
any sense because I knew that I had Flash player 7 on my PC until just days ago
when the download of Flash player 8 did not complete normal EOJ. When I did the
test on this web site to see what flash version I had, the test showed nothing
in the box which confirmed that I don't have a working copy of Flash player
anymore.

I want the Flash player 7.0.19.0 back without any ride-alongs like the Yahoo
Toolbar. Where do I go to get Flash 7.0.19.0 for IE6 Sp1 back and how do I
get it installed right?

Installing the Flash 8 version with the Yahoo toolbar is not an option for me.
I hope some can help me.

I don't care about getting Flash 8, I just want my Flash 7 back.
Thank you for reading my request for help and I hope an answer is posted for
me soon.

Hi cyababy,

I think I have a copy of version 7 on my laptop you can have, it came
pre-installed with the computer. Its just a single setup file.exe 650kb, not
too sure of the version thou.

Send me ya e-mail address and I'l be glad to help.

I too am experiencing problems with version 8 when using MSN 7.5. I keep
getting a message to install the latset version of Macromedia flash player. It
works fine untill I reboot the laptop then have to download the flash player
everytime, it doesn,t seem to stay installed for some reason. I have made some
slight changes to the security setting to the ActiveX options and have
downloaded a pre-release of flash player 8.5. I have rebooted since and seems
to be ok at the moment but im holding me breath lol.

cheers
Danny

I was looking at the forum for my problem on the forum and saw yours and it
seems from what you said, mine is exactly the same. I have been through
everything, including uninstalling and reinstalling, but can't get to open in
actual flash. It says to choose from a list and I just choose internet
explorer to play my previously saved flash videos and it will play, but not in
flash. I found an updater 8.0 v.22, and told the system to open all flash
files with it, but nothing happens, but I do now at least have a flash icon on
all my flash stuff. Did you every get anything to work with your problem?
