But I need Flash Player and it seems the techies have lost sight of giving a
file by over developing their site. Please can a real person help me out here?
I've got admin rights, fast pc loads of memory, fully updated XPpro, I've got
my popup stopper turned off, theres no Security Alert showing on the info bar,
my DL manager is 'disconnected'. I press Install (on this page
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Shockw
aveFlash ) and nothing happens at all other than the page rolls over to this
page http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html
..
No download is even offered. The help faq offered help pages on the macromedia
3w site are totally useless and getting intouch with macromedia for a tech help
is pretty hard going! You need a serial number!! How clever is that when you
cant DL the program??? What a totally stupid site!!!!
AARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone remember plain old direct links? failing that anyone have any idea
what i should do to get this download going.

Macromedia..you site is total TOTAL TOTAL PANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMO

Actually faithfilly, I'm using professional and I can say that I've been
trying to download this player all week with no luck. I've tried everything
suggested, and nothing will work. There's no gold bar, there's no prompts for
installation, I've tried flash player 7, I've checked the box for the yahoo
toolbar, I've changed my security settings, removed programs, checked
publishers, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted and torn up my clothes. I need
some answers.

I had the same problem. I tried to upgrade for days and was unsuccessful. I
tried many of the same things. Finally, today I decided to uninstall the Flash
player completely and install Flash Player 7 as someone had suggested
(downloaded from http://www.comcast.net/flashUpgrade.html). After a successful
download, I restarted my computer and IT WORKED!! I was finally able to view
the Flash content on my Yahoo homepage. Then I was able to download Flash
Player 8 here without any problems, and I hadn't even changed any of my
security settings. I hope this helps someone!

Hi,

Although I am not sure of the cause of these installation and playback issues,
I can confirm that you do *not* need to install Yahoo Toolbar in order to
install Flash Player. The page is designed to detect whether you already have
the current version -- if you do, then we don't make you go through an install
process. So one case where you do not see the XP gold bar or activeX install
prompt is when you already have the correct player.

You can check if you have Flash Player installed, and if so, which version
here: http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_15507. The current version for Windows IE
is 8.0.22.0. If you are still having problems, I recommend running the
uninstaller (http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_14157 ), and reinstalling from
www.macromedia.com/go/getflash.

Also, note that the plugin for IE is different than the plugin for Firefox.
They are unrelated, so you will need to install into each browser separately.
The uninstaller will remove both.

regards,

I tried both of your suggestions.

For the option 1, it seemed to be all right but nothing happened after
downloading Flash 7 from the comcast web site. It was just downloaded and
that's it. Then I just restarted the computer but nothing still happened. After
that, I tried to download Flash 8 from Macromedia but I still failed to get it
worked.

For the option 2, I ran the installation program from brothersoft.com but I
got the same message like the one I've got before. "Error 1904 .Module
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash8.ocx failed to register. HRESULT
-2147220473. Contact your support personnel."

Please help. I spent tons of time in fixing this installation problem. Because
I uninstalled the previous version, none of the Flash items can be running on
my IE. Thanks.
