macromedia players flash : Can't install flash player for IE6 SP2

When I try to install Flash Player 8 it doesn't work in IE6. On the Macromedia
Flash Player download page, I click the 'Install' button, but nothing happens.
So I run install_flash_player.exe from my desktop. It appears to go through an
installation process for a few seconds, but then nothing happens, no
confirmation message or anything. No error message.

However, in my 'Add or Remove Programs' there is an entry for 'Macromedia
Flash Player 8' - but still when I go to websites containing Flash, it tells me
I need to install Flash, and redirects me to the download page - back to square
one.

I can view Flash ok in Netscape, but I understand this uses a totally
different control, so I guess that's not relevant.

My o/s is XP Pro SP2. My account is an administrator one. My IE6 popup blocker
is turned off. Help!!!

Did you ever get a solution? I have had the same problem for over a week and have not gotten an answer from Incredimail..
