All our people run as limited users, which means that are unable to
download/install flash/shockwave player updates via the web, so we must
distribute Flash/Shockwave in other ways. We use the .msi downloads to perform
this.

Today I downloaded Flash 8.24 msi file. After installing it, it appears I do
not have flash installed in my IE any longer. We were using 8.22 up until
today, which worked well.

It also appears strange that the download is over twice the size of what 8.22
was - 4.41MB versus 1.57MB?

The exact file name is install_flash_player_active_x.msi . We run XP/SP2 with
all current security updates available from Windows Update.

The same does not happen for the Shockwave update, which appears to be working
well.

Thanks for any information....

Hi! me again :-)

After I posted this, I noticed the "cannot run 8.24 as limited user" thread.
It appears that is my problem as well. I dont know for sure, I will check on
Monday to see if it works as admin user.

I never considered trying it as an admin user because our company is security
conscious, and it is a capital offense to surf the web as an admin.

And yes, i think this should have been tested as a limited user before
Macromedia released it to the rest of us.

For shame, for shame.
