Hi - hope someone can help.
I am running Windows XP and I installed the flashplayer 8 and am unable to
view some content in AOL on the user desktop(used to be able to). I am however
able to view it from the admin side. I have treid reinstalling it, I have
checked my popup blocker and active x settings already. Can someone help?

I'm afraid I can't help you - but I am experiencing a very similar problem. I
uninstalled FlashPlayer 8 in order to recreate an issue a team member was
having. I reinstalled the player, and now cannot view some content I was able
to see just a few hours ago.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would also be very grateful for assistance.

In addition to not being able to see content on the limited user desktop - I
just noticed I get no sound on videos etc AND on some kids websites that have
games my kids play I get the message that I don't have Flash installed when I
do (this is on the limited user desktop as well as the admin desktop. HELP!

Having the same problem here. Really racking my brain on this one. We were
having no problems, and then just minutes later, we could no longer access
certain Flash content. Specifically, we cannot access the game pages on
www.playhousedisney.com. Also found the same problem at www.familyfun.go.com.
Also get a message on the Macromedia web site home page saying "You may not
have everything you need to view certain sections of Macromedia.com. Please see
our site requirements." But most other web sites that have Flash give me no
problems in accessing content (except for this dumb "click to activate" message
I started getting around the same time).

Help! My son misses his games. :-)

[quoted text, click to view]

We are currently working on a known issue with non admin users failing
to view Flash with the Flash Player 8.0.24.0 activeX control:

Temporary workaround may help, but we are going to implement a better
solution in the near future.

Hmm... We actualy are logged in as the computer Administrator. I don't think
that's the problem. And, I keep finding more sites on which I cannot access
certain Flash content. For instance, on this site, http://www.rolandus.com/ I
cannot view the large Flash piece in the top center of the site. This sure is
disappointing. I sure hope someone has a solution soon. Thanks.

All you need is the activeX 7 from flashplayer 7 installed. IE only uses the
activeX portion. So download the archive and install from the archive folder
fp7_archive\r61 folder the file titled flashplayer7r61_winax.exe which is the
activeX portion only. You can find the archive by searching on the support
page for archived flashplayer.

THANK YOU!!! That worked perfectly!

In case it will help anyone else, I went to this link:

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14266

Then, I downloaded Flash Player 7. Once I extracted the files contained in
the ZIP file, I went to the folder called "r61" and installed both files
contained within. The important (and probably only necessary) one was called
"flashplayer7r61_winax.exe".

Everything works perfectly now. Thanks again "molitar" for your assistance!

I dont know if this will help but... I removed flash from my admin user and my
daughter's user id using the macromedia removal tool, not xp. I then reloaded
it for each user. The check was is that I did not do this with my wifes login
and she does not have flash even though she is an administrator. Kinda dumb
but it worked for me. I think flash removal tool works the register a little
harder than xp but I really dont know.
all the best, ed

By "non-admin" would that include employees using company computers? My
customers cannot get .swf files to play without first using the Windows "open
with" function. Is there nothing we can do to make the files run automatically?
They are embedded in a PowerPoint that runs with PowerPoint Viewer.
