Hoping someone has come across this and have a solution.

I have flash player 8 installed and it works on this site and others. but when
i go to other sites, it tells me "Your browser does not have Macromedia Flash
Player v4.0 or greater installed." or "You need flash player 7 or above to view
this site.
Download Now".

what else do i need to install?
