methods of installing a 32 bit firefox and getting Flash and Java plugins happy.

Supporting x86_64 with a flash player would really be appreciated. I don't mind
developing on a 32bit platform (since that's just about all I need it for), but
I'd really like to see the best content on the net running in my favourite
environment.
I'd just like to point out that NVidia are happy to release custom drivers to
support their products for x86_64, maybe they've sold a few extra SLI rigs?

Better than installing a 32bit firefox (which is still only good for flash 7),
you should install the WINSUCKS version of firefox (it runs fine under wine),
and the latest version of flash. Hardly ideal, but its the best solution
available.

Sorry but edrin2005 doesn't ask how to run 32bit flash in 64 bit enviroment but
he ask with one word "WHEN?".

When will be flash for x86_64? It's simple question but please think twice
before you answer. I dont want hear answer for question "how?" but "WHEN?". I
ask about this too becouse if i will want an 32 bits aplications then i will
buy x86 based procesor. I buy 64 bit procesor becouse i want use its power. I
want all my aplications will be 64 bits. And its sad that so popular program
doesnt have 64 bit version. This is very sad when i think about this that i
have only 3 32 bit apliactions in my computer. 1. flash player, 2. skype 3.
firefox (becouse i need 32bit web browser to run 32bit flash plugin). So make
64 bit flash for *nix systems and i can remove from this list 2 aplications:]

WHEN?

Whenever it is ready for release. Adobe have said they are still working on
it. Noone knows when (except for those working on it, who may have some
idea, but cannot really say).

Its not all the simple when doing low-level stuff (depending on how the code
is written) .. just setting compile to 64 bit won't fix any possible
alignment issues or word size issues that results. It could well be that
the developers want to get the 32-bit version working correctly first,
before changing to 64-bit (so then they 'know' that any issues that arise
are going to be related only to the 64-bit port.

Do you have so much more consideration for 64 bits users that you want them to
have the bug free version of your software
the message at the top of that thread is over 6 months old and the first
versions of 64 bit linux were released something like 3 years ago if I remember
correctly
In the meantime, there have been probably 3 or 4 operating system releases
from red hat, mandrake, ....
IF YOU GUYS CANT KEEP UP, JUST HAND THE SOURCE CODE TO OTHERS AND THEY WILL
FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT WORK !!!!
