This is a response from tech support:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
"Here are the steps to correct Flash Player 8 issues:

1. Download the most recent Flash Player uninstaller (3.0.0.17) from

"How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control"
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.

Save this file to your desktop. If you have any saved versions of previous
Flash Player uninstallers please delete them.

2. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer windows, AOL
Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger or other Messengers. Check
the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might
possibly use Flash Player are still in memory ( this includes pop-up blockers
and other software that are always 'online' )

3. Launch Flash the Player uninstaller (3.0.0.17) previously saved to your
desktop. Complete the uninstallation.

4. Launch your web browser. Install the latest Flash Player from the Flash
Player Download center at
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

Please note that the Yahoo toolbar offer shown to some users is optional. If
you do not wish to get Yahoo Toolbar please deselect this option.

5. After installation, verify that the Flash Player is installed successfully
by going to
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

The version should be 8.0.24.0.

If this does not work for you, repeat them but in Step 4 use the stand-alone
installers:
http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win (For Netscape-compatible
browsers)
http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie (For Internet Explorer)

For most people this will resolve install failures with Flash Player 8.0.24.0."

I too having the same problem with Flash Player 9.
It looks like Flash Player is unable to find Interner Explorer's plugin folder.

Lagarto_Roca you have mentioned steps for Flash Player 8.
Additionally, you have asked to first run uninstaller. I am installing
Flash Player 9 on a freshly installed WinXP (with SP2) machine. Why do i
need to run uninstaller first?

In case the existing FMP installed files were corrupted.

Problem is still there. "Directory Not Found".
Looks like FlashPlayer is uable to find IE (I have IE6 SP2).
Is there someone who know how the FlashPlayer finds IE? May be it is trying to
find a registry which does not exist on my system.

Or if passing some argument to FlashPlayer can solve this problem?

Please help. I can't run to all systems in network to install this.

These TECH SUPPORT procedures didn?t work smoothly the first or second time
for me either.

?2. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer windows,
AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger or other Messengers.
Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which
might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory (this includes pop-up
blockers and other software that are always ?online?)?

Shut down and close EVERYTHING, many unknown apps running in the background
can cause failure.

Also, I found success when I selected to include the YAHOO toolbar option and
rebooted.

Sorry, I don?t know if one or all of these did the trick?..It just started
working, so I let it be. Good Luck!
