Someone should stop drinking coffee !

This "advice" was a fix direct from Adobe. More than likely you had other
issues with your system that were to blame so don't shoot the messenger.
I'm sure you followed the warning on the site, "If you are not comfortable
editing the registry, then it's best to take your machine to a professional. If
you choose to proceed, it is essential to create a complete system backup and a
Windows System Restore Point before proceedingran a system backup"
Btw, the site owner has a life as a comptuer programmer regarding copy
protection systems and has changed the copyright law no less than 3 times.

Joe, You da man!

After 15 hours of trying to download Flash 9 and only getting the damn "
quotation marks instead
of the Flash Install Complete Animation Revovling Icon.

Here is the direct link for the fix:
ftp://adobe-support-dl:d0wnt0wn@ftp-sj.adobe.com/NA/dmcnally/

It worked on my Viao with XP Pro windows.

All the emails and suggested fixes from Adobe Support were way off the mark
and of no help.
Thank you Thank you Thank you Joe!

Hope it works for all you frustrated users too!

Joe you are truly the man!

After weeks of frustration trying to get Flash to work it's finally fixed!
I followed the instructions from www.donglefree.com and presto
after a reboot and reinstall of Flash everything is fine.

Thanks Joe :beer;

God Bless you!!! Try telling your 3 year old that he can not visit the Thomas
the Tank Engine or Little Einstien web sites for 2 weeks. I have been killing
myself over this problem. Why on earth does the Adobe "Known problem" list gve
some other lame fix that does not work. Adobe should be ashamed for not
publishing this fix. :shocked;

I downloaded and executed the fix from donglefree and rebooted.
Tried to install flash player again, but it still doesn't display.
I am on Win2K Pro spaxk 4 + post hotfixes with IE V6.0.2800.1106
I am wondering if this is a javascript / IE security problem instead?
I do not get any security warning dialoque when trying to install flash player.

Any ideas greatly appreciated..

After downloading the fix and executing the fix file did you see a window open
up
where you could watch it actually speed through your registry as it made it's
corrections?

Also make sure you have done adobe's latest uninstall prior.

Thanks,
Glad it was able to help so many others.
And I know there are so many others that don't know about it yet and are as frustrated as we were.

Dear All,

If you are not fancy towards IE, then I would suggest to go fo Netscape. I
dont' know how I enterend into this trouble, then I tried all suggestions given
by Adobe and other forum friends. But none didn't worked. Reinstall Windows
OS which made me work partially.

Now I install latest version of Netscape and all my problem are gone. youtube
is perfectly working. So I want to share this new with others so that they can
go for Netscape.

Hi, sorry to bother you, but when I try to go to the FTP it won't let me access
it, saying that connection could not be established. I have Admin status, and
the problem that the installation video wont show up is really angering me, i
was hoping this fix would work, but seeing as I can't do it apperantly, I'm
about ready to beat my computer with a baseball bat! If i could have some help
or suggestions, it would really be appreciated. Thanks, Shrimpz :smile;

Before you take out that baseball bat, have you tried DL the program with an
FTP client or using another machine to DL, and bring the files over ? Assuming
you mean the fix files?

Could you dumb it down a little, lol?

Also, for whatever reason, when I followed the Flashfix link (which did not
show the Yahoo tool bar option which I was getting previously and have been
getting since...weird...) I was actually able to download flash (previously the
moving graphic indicating a successful download appeared almost immediately
with no downloading occuring) but upon installation it says it cannot locate
the plugins directory...It tells me to browse and locate it which, well...I
can't. When I download it to the default which is
C;\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash it still does not work. Any ideas? This is
getting ridiculous...Where is Adobe?

Well I thought the donglefree flash fix was working, but NOT! I'm still getting the same message about flash9.ocx. It seems to happen whenever it wants too. No pattern.

You've got to be going more crazy than I was. Firefox not working!!!!
Firefox always worked for me.

I just want to make sure you've done this and understand. Firefox is
completely different web browser.
Click on link below to download the free firefox browser.
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Install it. Make sure you do not select to bring over anything from Internet
Explorer when given the choice.

Firefox does not use any Active X extensions which seems to be the whole frign
problem with IE
and Adobe dealing with permission issues on Flash not working or installing at
all.

Firefox worked for me always with no issues. Netscape did not but I later
found out the Netscape will
automatically us IExpoloers engine on things if IE is installed.

You have even more serious permission or other issues if Firefox won't play
Flash material.

Either way Adobe sucks at rectifying problems.

Hope this helps.

Didn't fix anything for me, all websites still ask me to install flash in order
to view there websites or movies. My pc shows flash 9.0.16 installed in my
add/remove programs, and when I go to the download page it shows I have 9.0.16
currently installed.

I also got flash to work after I
1. Uninstalled the flash Player With the uninstaller
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
2. reboot computer
3. remove safe versions from registry using regedit . follow the steps thru 4
then stop. DO NOT FOLLOW STEP 5 as this will just reinstall the imperfect flash
player 9 again.

ateID=1+0+157722798&mode=advanced
3. Reboot computer again.
4. Now go to this url and download flash player 7
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14266
5. Flash Player should now work.
6. Be very wary of Flash Player 9 untill they fix it.
Hope this helps.

:smile; Joe- Your steps workedafter all others on this site and elsewhere
failed. One note - the cmd script kept looping - that is, it didn't stop
running. I manually stopped it, and Flash worked after that, along with
everything else. - Thanks.

Almost as frustrated as some of you others. Tried Joe's donglefree several

of flash come back? I can not take any of this crap anymore. Version 9 will
not let me do any version anymore. I have uninstalled and installed so many
things and tried so many suggestions, I am about to give up and toss the
computer. PLEASE HELP. I am tired of staying up unitl 3 in the morning for 2

Try these two suggestions from Adobe.
Adobe has a beta release for Flash Player 9.0.18.0. Please download and test
it here:

http://labs.adobe.com/
[quoted text, click to view]
As noted, the public beta of the Flash Player 9 updater 1 is live as of this
afternoon. I strongly encourage everyone to install a copy and confirm that any
issue you're seeing has been resolved. I created a topic called "Flash Player 9
Update 1 Feedback" to ensure your comments on the public beta receive special
attention. Note that time is short, so please begin testing soon.

Thank you all for your help and patience to date. The Flash Player team
greatly appreciates it.

More information is available on the Labs site:

It just tells me I need to download newest version of Flash Player. I do that
and I get ". Follow ADobe correction through regedit adn reinstall and same
thing. I tried Gate55 suggestion that is posted on every forum and I can not
get old versions to go any where to install becuase correct directory is not
found. What do I put it in. I just will take any version that works at this
point.

You can go to this site
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer9.html

and get the uninstaller which must be done first,,, then go to

http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/

and go to Step 5 to get the Update. I've been using it for a week and no
more crashes.

It seems like the installers for Flash 8 and Flash 9 don't update the registry
properly.

An easy way to check this is to run regedit (Start -> Run -> regedit) and
search (Ctrl+F) for:
ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.9

Websites use this class to detect Flash Player 9 on your computer. If it's not
in your registry, the website will think you don't have flash even if you have
the proper ActiveX control (i.e. Flash9.ocx).

By the way, can anyone confirm that the CLSID for flash hasn't changed since
version 7?
