macromedia players flash:
I have both "Netscape 7.2" and "Internet Explorer 6 sp2" installed with OS
XP-Pro. I previously had Flash Player 8 installed and all was well with both
browsers. After upgrading to Flash Player 9, not all web sites will play a
video on Netscape 7.2, however will always play on IE6. The only thing
displayed on the Netscape 7.2 browser is "player is downloading", but video
never starts. I have performed a vigorous uninstall of Flash Player 9, with the
Adobe uninstaller and have even edited the windows registry cleaning out any
reference to Macromedia Flash or Shockwave players.

To no avail have I been sucessful to restore Flash Player for all web sites
viewed with Netscape 7.2. I have even tried re-installing Flash Player 8, but
nothing changes. What ever the Flash Player 9 upgrade changed has become
permanent .

P.S.
when visiting the Adobe test site
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messagepost.cfm?postaction=post&cat
id=184&loc=en_us
it identifies "Flash Player 9.0.47.0" and Shockwave Player 10.2.r21 are
complete and all animations works properly.

Please respond with a work around

This may not be helpful, but I noticed that cookie permissions can affect the
ability to play videos. Perhaps a good cleaning of cookie permissions and also
a good cleaning of cookies, cache, temp files, etc. might help.

BTW, I had a tremendous amount of trouble even installing Flash (although it
was into IE7). I eventually cleaned the registry as you did, and that was the
key after days of frustration.

Hello Lisme,

Thanks for the suggestions however, I have tried clearing the cache and
deleted the cookie file from the hard drive, which forces Netscape to create a
new blank cookie file and have set preferences to allow all cookies, all of
this at the same time. "NO LUCK" in resolving the problem. Judging from the
comments within this foum, it appears that Adobe has got some work to. There
are too many of us having trouble with Flash Player. Hope Adobe researches
these issues and has a patch or new version available soon.

Thank You,

If you don't mind my asking, perhaps you should get the next-generation
Netscape, which happens to be Firefox. Flash works well with that. I notice
that you have a modern computer (better than mine). If you migrated your stuff
over from an old computer, it might be time to upgrade the browsers. IE7 is
better, too. You can go to filehippo.com and get them. Your IE favorites will
carry over or you can import them easily. Maybe the websites are not optimized
for Netscape or IE6.

I have considered going to Firefox, but I like the look and feel of Netscape
7.2. Other than the Flash Player not working properly, I have absolutely no
other problems with Netscape 7.2. Besides, hackers don't seem to be interested
in breaking Netscape anymore. Furthermore, I do not want to spend the time
learning how to customize the preferences of a new browser.

I have seen other posts in this forum that are having a similar problems with
Firefox browsers. I do not like IE7 at all !! BTW, Flash Player 9 works just
fine with Active-x and IE6 on the same machine. I still prefer Netscape 7.2
