macromedia players flash : Unable to install FP 8

Every time I go to install the mm flash player 8 - it hangs at the same point
of the install (the end) and provides the following:

"Error creating file. 1008:5, -500 Access denied error" "You do not have
enough access privileges for this installation."

I am the admin of this machine so I find it hard to believe that I do not have
proper permissions. Is this a bug? Is MM aware of this? Has anyone running this
OS been successful in installing the newest player? Enquiring minds want to
know....

I had identical install failure on my G4 iMac, OSX 10.4.3. I finally succeeded
in installing Flash Player 8, using a suggestion made at TechSurvivors:

1. Enable Root User with NetInfo Manager.
2. Log in as Root
3. Run Install FlashPlayer 8 for OSX
4. Log out as Root.

Since I had no trouble installing FlashPlayer 7 on my machine with OSX 10.4.3,
I assume the FP 8 Installer was modified from previous installers so that it
failed to identify read/write permissions properly.

Simple answer after hours of headaches with same problem:

In UTILITIES folder,
go into "disk utilities",
click "repair disk permissions"

Different year, same problem.

Enabling root is insane. No developer is so crap that you'd need to enable root to sort out their problems.

Fixing disk permissions hasn't worked for me.

(I *love* Macromedia. Once great, now dismal.)

Wow rediculous I can't believe I had to log in as root to install such a simple dink third party type application. Most people don't even know about this account or how to access it.
