Adobe Blows

Thank you Adobe for falling short of Macromedia. You all suck. Fix the
goddamn problem with the goddamn Flash 9 or at least put downloads of older
versions. I would be happy to use Flash 7 just to watch a video clip without a
crappy error message cancelling the video and crashing my browser. If this is
how your horrible plugins work, I'll be damned if I by any product sold by you.
Oh Macromedia, where art thou? An evil, company with the collective
intelligence of a house-plant has taken over, with shoddy plugins, and 0
customer support.

Try to get yourself calm first! after that someone might try to give you a
hand. I would also like to know what white bug is that...

So far in Linux the only problem I had was a bug I already posted here in the
forums. You don't even mention what is your system! At least help to identify
your problem by giving detailed information.

If you are a windows user I suggest you clean the Internet Explorer Cache and
use the uninstall and reinstall approach mentioned in one of the other entries
in the forum (the one with flash not loading). This solved my problem. If it
doesn't solve yours I suggest you try something more drastic (like a fresh
windows installation) cause everything is working here (Windows XP Home - SP2 -
Genuine)...

Flash 7 probably wouldn't solve your need to view videos cause most websites
now use content that can only be viewed with flash player 8 or above. I believe
youtube is one of them.

bbrukus can you be more specific? What pages are you trying to see?

That is not a common problem, I have never seen anything like it. The only
thing that can possibly be considered as similar is the "movie not loaded"
error that can sometimes show up as a white screen.

Does that happen with all the flash sites or only some?

Can you make a couple of screenshots and post them here?

I'm trying to find out what is wrong cause I don't think it is a flash player
problem.

Your bug is consistent with the one I was talking earlier.
I suggest you test the following:

1- Disable all firewalls and antivirus (keep them disabled during all the
process)
2- Download
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.ex
e and http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie
3- Clean Internet Explorer cache (all offline content, including cookies)
4- Use the uninstaller to remove any flash players (1st link)
5- Reboot the computer
6- Install flash player with the offline installer (2nd link)
7- Reboot the computer again
8- Open http://www.adobe.com/go/15507 (still with your firewall and antivirus
disabled) - It should display the version and a bit more info on what version
you have installed.
9- Try to open www.adobe.com - Check if the movie is loaded.

If the movie is loaded correctly then the problem is probably the firewall or
the antivirus that are blocking the download causing flash player to have
nothing to play. Try to toggle them on and off to see if that changes.

If the last doesn't help read the post mmaclellan did
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=184&threadid=
1209961#4357529 and see if that helps. Specially the last two links about WinXP
SP2 blocking ActiveX.

I never used to have problems downloading from Macromedia. Adobe's method of
getting Flash sucks, I've done everything suggested and it still will not
download. I am a systems administrator, licensed pc repair technician and have
never been so frustrated as when Adobe took over Flash.

I used to think Adobe put out quality products, this headache has changed my
mind. At LEAST put mirrored direct download links of Flash on reliable
servers, the one you use is slow and unreliable.

PS: Waiting to see this message edited and/or removed.

I am sure that the problems are purely coincidental with Adobe's takeover.
There have been security changes in the operating systems and browsers,
along with changes link the activex activation etc.

I've not seen any difference at all in the delivery of flash installation ..
the only difference is that the domain name is adobe.com instead of
macromedia.com .. its always been via a web install, and there have always
been an archive of older versions and standalone installations available as
an alternative.

I'm not saying that people aren't having problems. But I don't think it
fair to blame Adobe's takeover of Macromedia for those problems. Of course,
as macromedia now is Adobe, it is up to Adobe to get the issues resolved,
but whether they have enough cases that they can reproduce the problems on
in order to fix and test is unknown. The vast majority of people are able
to use the player without problems (or there'd be a huge outcry and press
coverage etc)
