macromedia players flash: Hello

Whenever I encounter a page that has Flash content, I get a message that I
must install Flash to view it. I use Windows XP Pro and Maxthon as browser.
All the appropriate boxes are checked to allow Flash content. It doesn't
matter how many times I hit "okay" and install Flash, I still keep getting the
message. I download Flash, the little silver bar spins in a circle, and when I
return to the page I was trying to view, I get the "must install Flash" message
again. Please help me before I throw my laptop down the stairs. :confused;
