The newest version of FLASH crashes IE6. After install of flash I can try to
open any website and it locks. I have to open the TaskManager to 'end process'
but before I can get IE to END, it tries to open 2 other IE. (Stange by itself)
Botton line is before I can surf at all I have to do a "System Restore" to
before I download the new flash. So i am without FLASH if I want to surf.
In the EVENT viewer under the 'source' heading it says 'Application Hang'
WIndows is XPMCE, 2.4GHZ AMD, 1gig memory.
Any and all information is welcome!
Thanks,
Ronn

This one line "it tries to open 2 other IE." indicates to me that you have a
virus or a worm on your machine (or some type of spyware).

I recommend trying to resolve that before proceeding any further, and possibly
for the meantime (while you figure this out) installing FireFox and doing your
web browsing with that.

Bentley, tnx for the reply!
I had the same thought as you, a worm or spyware, but I have scanned with 3
different software to detect and delete spy, adware, etc. and only found some
cookies to delete, nothing else. Have also scanned with virus-scaner.
I would like to reinstall teh older version of flash, 7 or 8. MAybe ai can
find it on adobe.com website.

Well, that's an option. But if you continue to browser with IE at some point
you're Flash Player ActiveX control will probably get updated..

The archived Players are here:

I was thinking a bit more about IE opening multiple windows and I suspect that
perhaps they might not be a virus. Instead they might be IE attempting to do
it's bug reporting, which opens at least one window... but I'm not entirely
certain. I'd have to see it happen to know for sure.

When you do system restore how old is the restore point you go to? What's
changed since then (perhaps a Windows update of some kind?) I think you're
saying that your system restore is to a system that does -not- have Flash
Player activeX control installed?
