macromedia players flash:
Recently downloaded latest flash. Now have the error message: could not
find the file "flash.ocx". Used the flash uninstaller and removed the program
but the message continues to pop up. Did a file search and found the file in
the folder c:\i386. Deleated the file. The error message continues to pop up.
Would someone be able to give me a means of getting rid of this error message.
I have done a virus and security scans and found nothing. Please help.

TT

I have the same issue on my XP SP2 Pro Machine, but it didn't happen before
today.

I have done a virus and security scans and found nothing.

Only thing that has changed is I downloaded a few Windows updates including
IE7 (shite) and the Flash update ...... Starting to wonder which has the
problem IE or Flash ....

Anybody else seen this ??

I have renamed the file as suggested, and it has fixed the problem. I don't
get error messages anymore, and all flash objects (new and old) are working.

I assume that flash.ocx ius rename to flash.ocx or flash9b.ocx - depending on
which update you have downloaded.

Hope that helps...

Most of the users who have contacted us with this error have reported that the
problem actually comes from some other software on the system that is looking
for the Flash.ocx to see if the Flash Player is installed rather then checking
the registry. Apparently there are a number of screensavers that do this.
Disabling or changing your screen saver may address the problem. Renaming or
copying the Flash.ocx file is ill-advised.

Hope that helps you guys.

I am having the same problem and have tried to get help thru HP, my isp provider and yahoo. Am getting the run around and now am having problems opening attachments on yahoo email. Now does not recognize type of file for attachments. Have changed screensaver as suggested by Adobe. Help!
