flash (alternate) : Make a Text button ?

I'm making a text button, but my problem is that the mouse cursor has to be
right on top of the font,, How do I make it so the mouse cursor detect the
button in a rectangle area. I'm not drawing a rectangle color on back of it
because I want to use transparent background so the text is on top of the
graphics.

Thanks

Make a transparent button.
For that, draw a rectangle only in the last part of the button : click area.
It' all

A+

The part about transparency is nonsense, assuming you're reffering to the HIT keyframe of any buttonsymbol. Check the manual again
for the topic of creating buttons; it's the HIT frame you're interested in.

No .. its not nonsense .. drawing a rectangle in only the hit state of a
button will make an invisible button. Only thing wrong with previous advise
is it is call "hit" not "click".

?? Any filled solid shape in the HIT frame of a button symbol is invisible when running the movie, so why make it transparent?? I'm
assuming that the text for the button is in the first three frames.

What have I missed?

You missed that NOONE said to make the rectangle transparent. All that was
said was "draw a rectangle" .. you somehow jumped to the conclusion that is
said "draw a TRANSPARENT rectangle". The only one who mentioned that was
you !! :):)

All the best,
