iis ftp : Help with IIS 6 FTP permission abnormality

I must be missing something here.

I've set up an IIS 6 FTP site assigning a local user
account to a locally hosted virtual directory (user
Isolation mode). I removed the account from the system
users group and added them to a group configured to
provide ftp access (see User Access group settings
below). The user logs in with no problem. However, when
I change the group membership odd things occur. When the
user is placed in the read group they can still upload
files but are prohibited from deleting them. This odd
because none of the groups the account is a member of
grants write permission to the directory at the NTFS
level. I would expect attempts to delete files to be
denied. (I've verified the obvious already - e.g.
everyone group removed etc). Am I missing something here?

Site settings:
Virtual directory hosted (on same server as FTP service)
Configured to allow read and write, anonymous access
removed

NTFS permissions on directory
(Groups created locally on FTP server)
Read group configured with:
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read

Write group configured with:
Modify
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Write

User Access group configured with
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Logon to server user right
Access server from network user right

User credential and group membership might be cached.
try re-login, restart IIS FTP, refresh machine policy and etc.
