iis ftp : 550 Access denied on isolat user mode

Hi!

I´m using IIS 6.0 on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and trying to configure
FTP User Isolation Mode and / or FTP User Isolation with Active Directory
Mode.

On the server system actrive directory is available.

(Almost) Everything works fine and accessing the user folders is posible.
But even if I enable on virtual ftp server read AND write access, it is
impossible to WRITE into the folders by using ftp.

I realy checked if read AND write is marked on virtual ftp server and if the
rights on NTFS are good. Even if it is set full access for everybody it is
not possible to WRITE into the folders by ftp. Normal local network access
is possible (read and write).

So I need any help how to give the rights to write into the virtual ftp
server using User Isolation Mode.

Thank You for help!
Christian Rosanski

Is the user folder on UNC path or local disk ?

You can try filemon (sysinternals.com) to trace where it stuck.

Hi Bernard,

I checked it with both. UNC path \\server-01\www-data and local disk
"D:\www-data".

I set full access for everybody group on ntfs and also on network share
(UNC). But I just get read access, no chance to write into the folder or
share.

I also tryed filemon. Thanks for this information. But filemon give no
details about ftp access.

Any other thing to do?

I hope for it!
Christian

Hi!

Now I find out that the reason for my problem was an installed Microsoft ISA
2004 Application on the same server system.

Default the ftp publishing role was write protected.

Thank you all!
Christian

Hi Bernard,

I got ntfs. But the reason was firewall protection so that filemon can´t
give any information because the if packets were droped before reaching
filemon.

But as you know, the problem is fixed!

Thanks a lot!
Christian

if is NTFS permission. I'm 100% that filemon will be able to tell you why
and where.
