Hi I have W2003 server and he is NAT (RRAS) for internal clients. He has two NIC, one for LAN & one for WAN. Firewall on WAN NIC in RRAS is disabled. NIC on WAN side is connected to router. So if I try to connect to branch office FTP server from W2003 Server or any other client behind NAT, after enter Login & password information I get the following message: 200 Type set to A. 500 Invalid PORT Command. 500 "LPRT 6,16,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,34,113,2,7,184':command not understood If RRAS is disabled and if I use Router to share Internet on private network, FTP connection to branch office FTP server just works fine. So obviously, W2003 Server acting like NAT is the problem probably high port translation, but just can't find any solutions for that problem. Hi Bernard In IIS Managers on my W2003 server, ftp is set to port 21. Behind the NAT all clients computer start FTP session with port 21 using command like ftp://81.56.xx.xx Remote FTP server ( W2000 Server SP4) use also port 21 I saw this 2 KB articles from microsoft but could'n find any solution in it. I'm just dumb enough to don't understand it :( More precision: in past my W2003 Server used ISA 2000 for a while but for some compatibility issue with company software I have had to remove it. I know that ISA server just adore to change http port from 80 to 8080 in IIS. Does he change FTP port also? Format & reinstall of my W2003 server is impossible (they'll kill me :-/ ) but i can make any kind of test during the night with possibility to use Disaster Recovery if Server crash. Q? how can I find out which ftp port my server use when he act like client and NAT for others LAN users. According to your first mail you mentioned that you get an error LPRT 6,16,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,34,113,2,7,184 this means that you are working with IPv6, the first number "6" is the version number if the IP protocol you use, and in this case it's IPv6, the number 16 is the number of bytes the describes the network address and in your case it's zero's and i don't understand how, the rest are the port length and the port number, the command is Long PORT (LPRT) which is used to specify the data port that will be used to transfeer data look, bring your WAN interface properties and tell me what are listed in it other than "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet Protocol" and "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Network". this could mean that the client ftp app support IPv6 LPRT but not necessary that it's based on v6 protocol. while I'm don't what to config, but the error is definitely related to NAT and routing issue. Also I have read that if ISA2000 is in placed, there's hotfix for such error. ***** There in no more ISA server installed on this box.****** I have just 2 NIC adapters and in RRAS NAT is configured to share internet for client PC After ISA server is been removed, IIS services were reinstalled. In Internet service Manager FTP port is set to 21 and WWW is 80 Is there any tool from MS to remove ISA server completly (in case there is some trace of old installation)? Yes, I meant NAT :) Changing http port 8080 and etc all depend on the box setup, e.g. how many IP available. since ISA need port 80 for http traffic as well, if you have 2 or more IPs you can disable socket pooling, and make one listen for ISA and others for IIS. you just using RRAS, right ? and not running NAT from ISA. Last night I installed W2003 Server on spare Hard drive (original RAID drives was simple disconeted) after installing the system. & RRAS + NAT everything just working fine. Now I should persuade my boss to not spend the time anymore but reinstall the server. Thanx for your help. Yeah . When you activate RRAS he ask you if you want to setup an RAS server or NAT so I chosed NAT ( I have to share Internet connection with other boxes in our LAN. I would like to find out also what's wrong without breaking server. Hi I did removed ReservedPort ( Reg_Multi_Sz) 3343-3343. ( KB324288) So after restartin RRAS engine server i able to access almost all Ftp sites on branche office :) :) ;-) / he is able to connect to FTP server and update virus signature, but the clients Boxes still can't get any FTP.
