Help: Virtual Directories do not display Bruce Miller

iis ftp: I have configured an FTP server and have several virtual
directories in the server. I can access the FTP server
okay using ftp://192.168.0.1. I also can access the
virtual directory if I use ftp://192.168.0.1/dir1.
However if I just access the server at ftp://192.168.0.1
the virtual directories (dir1, dir2, dir3 ...) are not
displayed. I have been through all the settings for the
Server, the FTP Service, and each virtaul directory. How
do I get the directories to display. I know I am
overlooking something I just do not know what it is.

This behaviour is by design - see http://support.microsoft.com/?id=142853

To get a directory to show up with the same name as the virtual directory,
you can simply create a real directory in the same place, with the same
name. The virtual directory will be used instead of the real one, when the
user changes directory into it, but when you do a directory listing of the
parent directory where the virtual directory and real directory are based,
the attributes for the real directory will be listed.
