iis ftp:
I have a server that is hosting multiple FTP sites and recently one website
stopped working properly. When I try to connect to it I get the following
messages:

Connected to ftp.myhost.com.
Connection closed by remote host.

The only change that I have made is that I moved the server to a different
hosting facility and changed the IP address that it's on. The other FTP
sites on the box (which had the same IP switch) are working fine and there
doesn't appear to be any different in the setting of the sites (other than
the directory). I've checked the directory permissions to make sure that
there wasn't any problem there also. Any ideas on what is causing this?

A couple of possibilities:

1. In the properties on that FTP site, is the IP address given as a
specific address, or "all unassigned"? If it's a specific IP address, then
it must match the IP address that the server will be receiving connections
on. If it's not the right address (for instance, if you've set it to
192.168.0.1 and you're trying to connect to 127.0.0.1), you'll get the
behaviour quoted above.
2. Under the "Directory Security" tab, add a TCP/IP address access
restriction - pick an IP noone's going to use, such as 127.7.7.7. Then
restart the FTP server and try it again.

So that the IPSecurity value in the metabase is not empty - we have one
customer reporting that this behaviour only occurs for them when the
IPSecurity value is empty (as opposed to being completely absent).

Note that it's not "step 2" - it's more "option 2". Option 1 is more likely
to be the problem - I just like to be complete.

Alun,

What's the reason for doing that (step 2 ) ?
