Hi I'm Andrea from Italy. I have a Machine with W2K Server (IIS 5.0). On
this machine there are two Asp site, and there is a default FTP site with
three Virtual Directory. I have a big problem with the FTP becuase there are
some ip that open a lot of port with the passive mode. How to define the
rage of ports that the machine opened for the passive mode?

Thank you

Andrea

Ps: Sorry for my bad english.

Thank you very much!
So for the Win2K, i can't define a specific port's range. 5001 to 65535 is a
big range :-(
I have a lot of passive connection and i will limit these.

Sorry but i think that i made a wrong translate of document.
Workaround: I add a value named PassivePortRange of type of REG_SZ. I open
this value and i define a specific range (ex: 5500-5700).
Is it right?

Thank you so much, and sorry for my bad english.

You can ! with SP4 installed.
did you read the Windows 2000 Server section ?
5001 to 65535 is the valid range that you can use.... not asking you to
configured it.

Yes, to test it after you restart FTP service.
Make passive connection from client ftp software and at server end
do a 'netstat -an' at command prompt, verify the ports of ftp server is
using.

Hi, Andrea.

Did you add a value named PassivePortRange in the metabase.xml ?
Could you send me an example, please ?

I need to configure the passive port range, but I don't know how to do this !

Thanks,

Elga
