iis ftp:
I have inherited a FTP windows 2003 server system and I am having some
trouble understanding something. We have users accessing the system
using both a local user ID and a domain user ID. We have to have two
listing on the security on all folders. Is there an easier way to do
this without having all these security policies? I still want the
security but I was hoping to be able to do authentication where if the
user didn't have a local ID it would check for a domain ID without
having to list it at the folder level.

Try -
How to configure FTP folders and permissions for domain authentication in
IIS
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310723

Test a local user and then for domain try enter the user in this format
domainname\username.

hey mmorgan1240,
I think u might be able to help me on this one.... i have an FTP server. it
is not a DC but it is a member server in the domain. I have created a domain
user to log on to the ftp site. now my users have to give the username as
domainname\username to authenticate to the ftp site. They don't want to do
this. They just want to give the username without having to mention the
domain name. So i created a local user, but the local user is unable to log
on to the FTP site. I believe u have a similar setup. Can u plz tell me how u
managed to get the local user log on to your ftp site?? I'll be very
grateful.......

Did you set the defaultlogondomain ?
if not, you should be able to authenticate locally.
