Problem with Passive-FTP and RRAS-Service Daniel Weber

iis ftp:

Hi,

I have a little problem with an IIS 6 FTP-Server. The PassivePortRange
is set to 5001 - 5032 and worked fine without Service Pack 1.

Two weeks ago I installed SP1 on our Windows Server 2003 Webedition and
things began to get bad. MSFTPSVC responded "425 Can't open data
connection." immideately after the PASV-Command. After some
Trial-and-Error I solved the problem bei restarting the RRAS-Service (I
know, it sounds strange!).

Today I found that there is still a Problem with FTP-Passive-Mode:

As long as RRAS is running, the upper end of the PassivePortRange is
without effect. The FTP-Service offers the Ports 5001 up to 5032 as it
should, but then goes on with 5033, 5034, ...

As soon as I stop RRAS, FTP-Service returns to 5001 after it used 5032.

Is this a known issue in MSFTPSVC or in RRAS? What can I do to get
MSFTPSVC _and_ RRAS runnig together in harmony?

Thanks in advance,

Interesting, I remembered I read something about RRAS with passive port
range.
Unfortunately, I don't have the detail now :(

Since this happen after SP1, I would suggest you engage with Microsoft PSS,
and open a case with them.
If it is SP1 break your config, they will not charge you.
