iis ftp:

at our client's place, we have enabled IIS ftp site. on the command prompt
if we type in ftp all it does is echo off microsoft IIS information and then
come back to document and setting prompt. probably some firewall is blocking
the ftp service?

can i have some pointer on how to trouble shoot whats casing this?

when in command prompt if you type ftp it would echo
C:\~docs and setting>ftp
microsoft version [2.0]
C:\~docs and setting>

we never got into ftp> prompt.

our investigation led us, to windows/system32/ftp.exe, which on all the
other machines was of size 46 kb where as in this machine it was 370 kb. once
we replaced it, the ftp prompt started working but our ftp server didn't
start. and then we found some fishy program under C:\program
files\windowsupdate folder, which was running a ftp service.

probably that machine is compromized?

Not sure I understand what you're saying here. At a command prompt,
you typed in FTP {IP_Address} and got this? Can you post the text of
your test in full?
