iis ftp : Limiting passive FTP ports on IIS 5.1 / Windows XP Pro

Hi,

I have a Windows XP Pro machine acting as FTP server behind a firewall. To
allow passive FTP I want to reduce the number of ports used for data
connections. I read Knowledge base article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555022&Product=iis50
but I am confused: The "adsutil.vbs set /MSFTPSVC/PassivePortRange
"5500-5700"" method (W2003) does not work on my system (PassivePortRange not
in schema) and although, I modified registry (second method for W2000), the
FTP services does not take limitation into account (checked by tracing FTP
response with network analyser).

Is it feasible on a Windows XP Pro / IIS 5.1 box? If yes how?

You are right, indeed re KB555022. However, the question still applies - Is
there a way to limit port usage on IIS 5.1 / Windows XP Pro?
thanks, Pierre

If you have tested it on IIS5.1 and it doesn't work, then it's not meant for
XP Pro.

Nope. You need third party product other than IIS FTP.
