iis ftp : FTP Login Problem

I started with an IIS FTP setup on a Win XP Pro computer. I made all the
necessary changes to ZoneAlarm, my router, and Norton. Yet when I try to login
from an outside computer using IE6, I keep getting the logon box for both the
named account and anonymous. The box keeps popping up, not accepting the logon
attempt.

Since that didnt work, I set up Serv-U FTP. Went through all the FAQ for
specific set up with the appropriate modifications. But trying to logon with IE6
is still giving me login boxes that dont accept the login.

The same problem with both. Obviously, Im doing something wrong. Anyone have any
ideas?
Thanks.

Best guess is firewall/secrurity/NAT misconfiguration. Disable
Norton's, ZoneAlarm, etc. and try. Also use the command line FTP
client so you can see result codes.

Ive tried shutting down everything and going clean on both machines, but I still
can't get past the login popups. Its something else. And tell me more about the
command line FTP client.
