I have a requirement to install an FTP server that is secure. Now, first I
work for the government and the 2003 Server that I loaded the FTP service on
is on the SIPRNet which implies a certain level of securtiy to begin with.
Also, I will be using the WS-FTP client so that is also secure. I used the
Isolate User option when installing. Is there anything else I need to do,
without additional software to make my FTP site secure. SSL is also on the

I have read some of the other posts and it looks like I need to either
purchase a 3rd party product or use webdav via SSL. Does anyone readin this

You want SFTP, Secure FTP. Requires a third party product. I think
most now do it, but we've been using WFTPD Pro for a few years for
this same purpose. At http://www.texis.com/. Serv-U and WS-FTP
Server from Ipswitch also seem to have similar capability.

NIPRNet probably. SIPRNet, I'm not sure.

I would say check with the NOC. But, if you have experience like me,
they won't answer the question.

The latest policy mentions SFTP but no one can seem to tell us
developers what the standard is.
