Disable parent folder view El Marko

iis ftp:
We're running ftp on a Windows 2000 server.

Before our harddrive failure last week, we had specific folders for
customers that they would automatically get routed to when they logged in
(see KB article 201771). The user had full control of their own folder but
could not navigate to other folders.

When I restored the ftp root directory, I chose the option to restore
permissions on folders as well. However, I could only restore the user
accounts manually and security properties on the restored folders displayed
that long alphanumeric string indicating an unknown user. I suppose the
unique user ID has something to do with that.

So I have set things up as outlined in the above KB article, and users get
zoomed right to their folder, but they can navigate all over the place as
well. How can I prevent this?

Thanks
m

1) if you see long alphanumeric string- that's the user account SID.
and it does that coz it can't talk to either local user db or domain
controller for actual user name.

2) in w2k, you can't prevent user to navigate the root path. e.g. via 'cd
...'
all you can do is hide it via vdir and block access via NTFS permissions.
