Hello,

We lost are server this past month to a hacker. In the process of
recovering the system we noticed that FTP services were gone (removed even?).
I've been trying to re-install ISS with all of its components. However,
during installation I get some scary messages including the removal of files.

To install the service I insert the CD into CD-Rom drive. When prompted I
use the Add on service button. I remove all of the checks except for ISS.
When I click on Next, the insallation starts, but I am warned that files are
going to be removed. Panicked, I stop the isntallation. What is going on?

you may not be borg, but you will be assimilated!

if you are talking about the normal add/remove programs dialog then when
you uncheck a box you mean for it to be removed.

What kind of files ?? what are you trying to remove ?

if the machine has been compromised, i recommend a total rebuild.
