iis ftp : FTP Directly to the wwwroot

I have been administering a web page for years now and do so via Remote
Desktop Connection to a Windows 2000 server running IIS 6.0. In order to
make changes to the site I have to upload a file via FTP (FTP Explorer to be
exact) which sends the file to the FTP folder on the server. Then I have to
logon remotely to the server and copy the file from the FTP folder to the
wwwroot folder to make it live.

I'm no IIS wiz. Can someone tell me what I need to change on the server to
allow me to logon directly to the wwwroot folder with my FTP client allowing
a file to go live as soon as it is uploaded? No one has ever been able to
tell me how to do that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Assuming you have the ftp site setup:
a) create a virtual directory on ftp site and map it to wwwroot
b) configure proper NTFS permissions on the wwwroot folders/files

if you like to have special account to do so, create a user account via
computer management, then grant appropriate permissions for the user @ step
b.
