iis ftp : 500 Access is Denied

I'm having probelms uploading files to our external website via FTP. I
cannot even get to my external FTP site internally. Here's my problem. From
outside my firewall I can go to my external website via FTP client, IE or
windows explorer and login. I can upload files, rename files and pretty much
do what I want to do. My problem is from inside my network I can get to my
external website, login and that's about it. I get an 550 Access Denied when
trying upload or rename or make a folder. I need some adivce as to what is
blocking me internally. I'm sure it is my firewall. By the way I use SBS
2003 Server Premium with ISA 2004 SP2.

How would I know if i'm in active or passive mode?

Try toggling passive mode on or off (try the opposite of what it is).

Is there a firewall or IP address restrictions on the server itself?

What IP are you using to connect? An outside IP will not work too well
(that's routed to the outside interface on your firewall, you need the
internal network IP address bound to the network card on your SBS server to
be used to connect from internal clients).

this is not ftp mode issue as you are getting 550 access denied. not 426 or
related error about connection.

I would check ISA firewall rules for internal connections and see the ftp
publising rules allows 'write' operation.

Hi Bernard and thanks for the feedback. As far as your recoomendations I
have already done that. I did a real time monitoring of ISA as checked to
see what rule was "denying" my access. Funny thing is that it is the default
SBS Internet Access Rule. So I sadi to myself cool i'll just edit the rule
and Conigure FTP and allow read access. Well that didn't work either. Here's
another funny thing. I can use an FTP client (FileZilla) and FTP to the site
from my desktop with no problems. Weird huh?

:) did you desktop go through the ISA ?

I would connect remotely via ftp.exe, then login, do a dir listing, and mput
a file.
upon getting 550 error, i will check isa + iis log.
