this is during ad isolation wizard screen ? or actual user login to the ftp
site?
did you set the user home folder, etc as per AD isolation requirement?

anything more specific in event log ?

this is actual user login. This ftp server is behind isa server. i can use
command line to login but when i want to list the files, it will
disconnected. Nothing in event log. For IE, it will prompt user namd and
password but it cannot find the page.

This should be related to ftp mode and firewall port blocking again.
try isaserver.org

Well, to ensure that your AD isolation is setup correctly.
if you go to the ftp server, then ftp.exe locally using AD account, will you
able to login and list files?

how's your setup look like ? net -> isa -> iis ?

I can use ftp.exe or IE to login and list files. Only thing is when download
it has timeout whether is active or passive mode using IE. My ftp server is
behind my isa and isa is connect to internet.

Bernard, ftp client like wsftp can use download successfully without any
timeout. Only download using IE remotely got problem.

this is because IE uses passive mode I believe. so look at isaserver.org for
passive mode config on ISA.
you can test this easily by forcing IE to be an active mode client
