iis ftp:

425 can't open data connection is my message in firefox when trying to
connect to my win2k3 IIS ftp. Anon access is enabled etc and via
Freedownload manager I can connect fine. However in Freedownload manager i
cannot download anything. nothing happens when trying to download anything.

all dir are read/write etc for anon access.

What's going wrong? It seems IIS is extremely difficult to use for me.

Try switching "Freedownload Manager" to passive FTP mode, or to active if it
is in passive.

Try using the command line FTP program built into windows, it will give you
the plain text error message.

Also, some anti-virus and "personal firewall" products block FTP. Turn
those things off while you troubleshoot, or otherwise inspect them to see if
they might be doing that.

I'm not using AV etc and messing with download manager doesn't do anything.
cute ftp worked however. i wanna use firefox really and then download with
download manager since i am not going to pay for any ftp program and there's
no free ones with multi threaded transfers etc.
