How set up IIS FTP to website? wdsnews

iis ftp:
I want to establish a website on a 2003 server that allows my customer to
publish to it using FTP. Is there a document available that describes this?
I've set up lots of websites on IIS in the past, using FrontPage as the
publisher. I've also set up FTP sites on IIS. But how do you set up FTP to
a website?

Over the past week, I've posted this inquiry in two other groups.
Unfortunately the only replies that come back are from people who pretend
they know something on the subject, but give me lots of reasons why they
won't help me. As a result, others who might be helpful see that replies
already exist, and so they don't provide any help either. I'd be very
grateful to not receive any more replies that only give reasons why they
won't help. Please trust that I have a deep understanding of my firewalls
and security issues.

I simply need a way to publish from outside the server in a manner that
doesn't rely on FrontPage Server Extensions.

I don't know FPSE, but if you want to setup IIS FTP that 'link' back to your
website... it should be simple enough.

Say - www.xyz.com -> d:\website\xyz\
Web site is running fine etc..

Now, create DNS record ftp.xyz.com or even use back the same name
www.xyz.com
create ftp site - map it to d:\website\xyz\
grant related login access say owner of xyz.com - modify permission.

then when owner login to this ftp site, it is actual the web site content,
then do whatever publish work you wish.
