Pop-up ads thru Messenger

I have Windows XP home and get my email using high speed
cable and Outlook 6. I am getting well over 100 ads a
day via Messenger. Can I just disable Messenger to stop

We have a website that is running IIS 4 and Windows NT 4 server. I migrated
the website to IIS5 Windows 2000 server. The website authenticates users
from the web server to a midrange box.

I previously posted this issue last week, but that was against NT4/IIS4...
w2k/IIS5 sp4 etc etc
IIS log gives 401 responses to logins, but security event log gives
'success' response to logon.
Can only assume that this is something with IIS, but what?

FTP root home directory

Hello. In IIS 3.0 you used to be able to create a user
for ftp and set their virtual home directory. This giving
everyone a private home. I can't seem to find how you
would do this in IIS 5.0. It seems to take everyone to
the main home directory. Only NTFS security keeps them

Blocking .EXE

I get a 404, file not found, when browsing a .exe file on
an IIS 6 win2k3 site: IIS5 executed it fine.
URLSCAN not installed, though this behavior is the same as
an earlier post (June20) referred.
If I set the folder perms to "scripts only" then I get the

Hi,
I've got my server set to use "Integrated Windows
Authentication" and it works fine from the same office the
server is located in.
My branch offices (connected via VPN), however, get
prompted with a login dialog when they try to access the
pages.

goodies from the servervariables list) to fetch the logon
name of the domain user. Based on that I have
personalised the asp pages on our intranet server.
