iis security : IIS5 not letting authenticated user in

I previously posted this issue last week, but that was against NT4/IIS4...

w2k/IIS5 sp4 etc etc

IIS log gives 401 responses to logins, but security event log gives
'success' response to logon.

Can only assume that this is something with IIS, but what?

And what's the reply for last week question ?

check out IIS log too and see which request
having problem.
