iis security:
I have ftp running with anon logins disabled. When I log in from the outside
of our network I can post files fine using msdos machines. When I log in
from the outside with unix or mac machines, I get read only and cannot post
files. There has to be a simple permission setting that I am not finding...

This was an osx powerbook that was using ftp in a unix shell.

The log has curious entries that looks like the mac machine tries to login
anonymous and then uses the correct username/password, but no errors in
trying to read or write.

It still remains read only...

When you saw the problem in the fetch app, was there a workaround?

you mean the client app try to write and ftp server didn't record any errors
?
but the file was not written ? not even a 550 error ?

about 'fetch'. not really..

When the client app tries to write, it states that the ftp folder cannot be
modified. I have looked in the log and there is no error reported. Maybe I
am looking in the wrong place, but I am watching sys32/logfiles/

I tried a unix shell in osx, but mostly I am trying osx where it actually
mounts the ftp as a share.

I have checked and doublechecked the permissions and everything looks good,
but there has to be something with mac. I have the problem from inhouse and
outside.

Everything works great from a windows machine inhouse and outside...

Go figure...

Arrggh! looks like a client side issue then :(
the 'Mac' doesn't really work in this way.

default log path is %windir%/system32/logfiles/msftpsvcX/
where X is the site id.

when it said it can't be modify, no entry in the ftp log ?
are there any more ftp client on Mac ? (i have no ideas), but worth a try.
