iis security : Please recommend a low cost and reliable antivirus package for a W2K IIS 5 webserver

Fernando L. Arredondo

I have been running my dedicated remote webserver without anti-virus
protection since I leased it 2 years ago. I don't think that it has been
infected but I don't want to take any more chances.

Can someone please recommend a low cost anti-virus package for W2K Server?

Please advise. Thank you.

Sure you recommend third party products. You recommend etrust anti-virus,
and offer it free for 12 months ;-)

Microsoft may not but I can. :)

I've used AVG on IIS servers with no troubles. Free for personal use.
Personally, I don't use an on-access virus scanner, just run one on a
regular basis. Realistically, for a server not running SMTP and where
users aren't browsing from it, the chances of virus infection are low
if the system is properly secured.

If you run SMTP/POP then you should use an on-access scanner for the
queue folders.

Jeff
