Upgrade them to XP Pro? :)

Are you using authentication? If so, 98 clients may not pass the
authentication and you may have to add Basic Authentication to the
mix.

Hi there,

We have a Windows2003.net IIS server running our corporate intranet. All of
our clients run XP/Win2k and access the intranet start .asp page ok.

However our 2 Win98 clients do not work - they say you are not authorized to
access this page.

All the machines at present run on a local workgroup, however we are
migrating them onto the Active Directory

Please let me know how I can accomodate the Win98 users

Thanks
Paul

Jeff,

After ticking on Basic Authentication - I still get the same message. This
is now using Integrated Windows Authentication and Basic Authentication.

403 Not Authorized to view this page.

Any other ideas?

Thanks
Paul.

I just get the Not Authorized page straight away....

I think I have pin pointed the issue - not too sure how to solve it....

Basically all office users (inc the Win98 clients) are using a Firewall
proxy set in their IE browser. This proxy is hosted in another location -
hence they have a different gateway to what our new server is set to.

The reason behind this is that we are doing a migration plan to transfer all
traffic from this seperate location to an inhouse firewall. The Win2003.net
server is using the inhouse firewall (Default Gateway).

Therefore I need to find a way to change the old proxy server so that these
clients can access the Win2003 server on the local LAN.

Thanks
Paul.

Ah, that's not what I thought it was then...

That's not a big issue, you need to work out the routing on the
network/gateways/proxies, but it's not an IIS problem.

Good luck.

Are you entering the credentials as "DomainName\User" or just "user"? You
will need the former, not the latter.

Additionally, do you ever get prompted for credentials, or do you get the
Not Authorized page straight away?

Cheers
Ken
