iis security:
Dear Sir, Miss,

I am trying to setup proper authentication on a IIS 5.0 (Win2K server)
website that works fine with Mozilla 1.7x and IE6.

1) I tried "Windows authentication" mode in IIS. It works with both
browsers but not always. It depends on the kind of network, firewall,
proxy etc.

2) I switched over to the "Digest Authentication" method.
In combination with IE6 I did not met problems, but working with Moz 1.7
(of Firefox) failed:

- I goto a page on the IIS server
- I logon -> OK, this page is loaded and shown
- I click on a link to go to another page on that site: the browser
reports "The network request is not supported"

a) Is Mozilla "IIS 5 Digest Authentication" compliant?
b) any suggestions?

Basic authentication is the only guranteed working one across the
board.

Tkans for the info.
Now I am trying basic authentication but this fails. See new thread...

I'll just add that Mozilla on Windows is able to handle NTLM quite nicely,
though I don't think it can handle Kerberos. I assume it's also
client-certificate aware, but not as far as I know Digest-capable. Usually
the NTLM killer is a proxy server which can't pass the credentials (ISA
Server can pass, not much else)

Digest Authentication is defined in an RFC (RFC 2617), and Mozilla/Firefox
definately supports it.

Cheers
Ken
