iis smtp nntp: Can anyone explain how to configure TLS for an outbound SMTP virtual server
in IIS 5? We are using a wildcard certificate from Geotrust
(*.company.com). The test server does not sit on in a domain. We will be
sending the emails from company.com.

We enabled TLS for outbound emails and changed the domain in the Advanced
settings in the SMTP virtual server to company.com.

Any test emails that we place in the pickup directory move to the Queue and
then just stay in the queue. We are sending them to a client that accepts
TLS encypted emails.

ANY IDEAS?

DNS resolves, Ill have to try and find out if our client trusts the
Geotrust-- which might not be an easy task :(

Sorry if this is a dumb question but...

Are you sure that DNS resolution is working properly? If the server can't
resolve an MX record for the remote domain, then mail will sit in the queue
directory like you describe.

Otherwise, does the remote machine trust the Geotrust root CA and
subordinate CAs? (and if Geotrust is using a cert from another CA to sign
it's issued certs), then all the CAs in the entire certificate heirarchy?

Cheers
Ken
