IIS & SMTP -> Major Problem Hareth

iis smtp nntp:
One day our server was running at full process & IIS was running at more
than 100mb ram...

I checked the logs, & I saw under the security section...error 419, 4000,
4006, & 4007..More than 100 times!!!!

I went to inetmgr/IIS and saw in the SMTP section alot of users/IP addresses
whom I don't know.

I restricted the connection to 1 at a time, and only to authenticated
users....

I still get errors almost every second!

And in that 1 connection, Unknown users still connect all the time, right
away, and I don't know them....not part of our network.

What do I have to do now?

Is there a way to resolve the issue?

I still get errors all the time, but now instead of multiple connections,
its 1 connection at a time and I don't know the user....
I stopped my SMTP to set my processor back to normal (temporary fix)
I need the SMTP service up and running again, but I'm afraid to start it b/c
the errors will come back, and some random user will connect again.
I need anonymous logon for my sharepoint services, but I said only allow
authenticated users...didn't help

Try using the connection control section to allow connections from only your
local box (and the sharepoint server if it's on a separate box)
