Hy all

I'm using WinXP prof SP2.

I've installed IIS without SMTP. Then I installed VS.NET. No I would like to
add the SMTP service.
I used the normal procedure to add Windows functionality: via Add/Remove
Window Components activate the SMTP box within the IIS component.

Windows then asked for the installation CD. As I then startet the IIS
Managament Consol I could not see the SMTP service listed up.

Any idea why?

Regards
Martin

Hi Jonathan
Thanks for your help. The topic describes the exact circumstances but
re-installing the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks does not
do the trick. I even reinstalled the Client for Microsoft Networks and
rebootet the Server. It did not help.

Have you any other hints?

Regards
Martin

Hi,

Try running Add/Remove again and remove SMTP, then run it another time to
re-add SMTP. I also assume you put the CD in and it installs without error,
correct?

Hi,

Uninstalling IIS, rebooting, then re-install IIS with SMTP might be the
easiest solution
