Thank you for the reply, but I got the problem sorted out afterwards.
The POP3 setup was standard, no custom settings. I hadto make some
modifications to my DNS, however, and that affected the MX entry. That is why
the POP3 did not recognize the mail as being for him and sent a redirect to a
mail exchanger that did not exist (due to the bad entry).
Since the settings remain if you uninstall and reinstall without restarting,
I properly configured the DNS, uninstalled all mail-rellated services,
rebooted an reinstaalled everything.
It is now working smoothly.
